9th January Visa Immonen defended his doctor’s thesis “Golden Moments: Artefacts of Precious Metals as Products of Luxury Consumption in Finland c. 1200–1600″ in Turku. His homepage has a bit more info on the subject, and it also has a link to the publisher’s, the Society of Medieval Archaeology in Finland, site where it’s possible to order the dissertation. The book costs 55 euros.
Aboa Vetus museum in Turku is having a wonderful exhibition next autumn called Luxury – Medieval Bling Bling, that showcases history of accessories and ornaments from a touring Norwegian exhibition. Unfortunately the museum’s internet page tells nothing more at the moment.
